Join us for a day of talks, screenings, and observation

Get your ticket to join us on Saturday April 27 for the second ever Too Much Information.

Too Much Information (TMI) is a twice yearly event presented by Problem Children students and mentors as well as collaborators and guests from the broader Problem Library community. Each edition of TMI has a theme, and this time we will be exploring “observation”.

There are two ways to define observation: as viewer or as commentator. These are not two sides of the same coin, but a river and its banks. Observation invites us in and gifts us new vistas.

What can be gained through our observation of the world? How can we create in accordance with our observations? Where can observation take us?

Through observation we find beauty, connection, and value in all things. Through our observations we define, inspire, and cultivate the world we believe in. When we observe, the world imbues us with spirit and we add our uniqueness to its shape. Observation is the path toward a deeper fellowship with the world.

6pm: Food, Earth, Happiness film screening presented by Nate Zack

TMI is a space for inter-generational exchange.

TMI is an event that offers former Problem Children (and other local youth) a platform to collaborate with more experienced creatives on developing a block of programming for the event. Through this collaborative process they work with new folks in the Problem Library community and develop long-term relationships built on mutual daring and support. During the event they present ideas, share projects, and/or lead activities which helps develop their ability to speak and present in public.

In addition to these young creatives, we invite emerging, developed, and elder voices to develop and lead programming blocks. This mix sparks generative, adaptive, and robust conversations, and encourages everyone to show up as both a teacher and a student. This approach also highlights that, when we speak from the heart, we are all worth listening to – no matter our age. It reminds us that we are all becoming.

TMI takes place in person because we believe that in our age of bountiful (digital) information we need new local (physical) spaces where we can build shared wisdom, nurture relationships, and develop ongoing conversations through human nearness.
