Join us for Too Much Information, the first ever Problem Children gathering.

Too Much Information (TMI) is a new event series presented by Problem Children students and mentors, as well as collaborators from the broader Problem Library community. The first TMI will take place on Saturday October 14 and Sunday October 15, and consist of conversations, presentations, screenings, and social time (full schedule listed below).

TMI is an evolution of Problem Children – expanding beyond a summer program and into educational and growth-oriented settings for people of all ages. By creating spaces for cross-generational exchange, we believe TMI can play a role in the health and vitality of our local community.

A space for cross-generational conversation, learning, and collaboration.

TMI believes that in a time of bountiful information, we need new local (physical) spaces where collaborations and connections can be seeded and nurtured. This must be built through common vision and life purpose. TMI is a chance to share from the heart and find allies.

TMI trusts that the way to create new knowledge, develop wisdom, and expand our potential is through inter-generational relationships built on mutual support, encouragement, and daring. This behavior is a practice we need to relearn on a cultural level.

TMI provides us with the opportunity to practice this type of collaboration and exchange. TMI serves as a showcase for the cross-generational and interdisciplinary talent within the Problem Children community so that we all may revel in the fruits of these relationships.

630pm: Communal dinner / pizza party

Creating pathways for young creative minds to engage with their community, city, and culture.

TMI aims to underscore the importance of listening to, engaging with, and honoring teenagers not because of their age, but because of their unique perspectives and understandings. This creates a space where teenagers can be nurtured and ushered into their role as valuable and additive parts of our local community.

For culture to survive, and thrive, there must exist an element of ushering youth into the “real world”. If we fail to put effort and thought into how we are educating, treating, and making space for the youth – culture will be lost. We will be stuck in an eternal present – where the old and the forthcoming are irrelevant and all that matters is what is happening now.

We must make room, space, opportunity for our youth to join the adult world in ways that honor their personhood and unique contribution to our human story.

Building what we wish we had when we were growing up has always been at the heart of Problem Children — TMI is the next iteration of this goal.
