Problem Children is a summer mentorship program designed for young artists who crave the space, time, and freedom to explore how their creative skills can enrich their lives and communities.
Through one-on-one mentorship, group sessions, field trips, and personal projects, Problem Children encourages students to engage their curiosity, strengthen their courage, and activate their critical thinking. It is a place where students grow their peer network, cultivate their creativity, and exercise their ability for self-directed growth.
Problem Children is a unique opportunity for young creatives to develop their portfolio, add to their CV, and meet a number of creative professionals who will advocate for them into the future.

The 2024 program:
- runs from June 1st to August 24th
- takes place at our studio in the Inner Sunset
- has space for 6 artists working in the visual arts or writing
We believe it’s important that young artists choose to apply of their own interest, but have found that a positive word from a trusted family member, friend, teacher, or mentor goes a long way.
If this program seems like a fit for any young creatives you know, we hope you will pass along the word and encourage them to apply.
