Being with the senses: tea, poetry, and sounds from the n'goni with Charles Dithrich

An evening of tea, poetry, and sound with Charles Dithrich, Daniel Lucas, and Noah Solt.

We’ll begin with a tea service, offered by Noah that will help us settle in, warm up, and begin melting away the stresses of our week. From there, Daniel will share reflections and read selected poems about life, protection, and perception. We’ll close out the evening basking in the sonic frequencies of a n’goni performance by Charles. Linger afterward and reflect on the shared energy before heading home.

This evening is offered as a gentle gift, and a space for being with and attuning to your senses. We invite you to come without any expectation or intention other than to steep in the tea, rest in the sound, and offer yourself the chance to simply be.

Come join us.

About the presenters

Charles Dithrich plays in the space of conception and afterlife, and everything in between. His decades long journey with the Malian harp, kamale n’goni steeped him in ancient traditional songs and contemporary West African popular music with which he blended his lineage of folk, jazz, and ambient music through his own compositions. Aligning with the traditional role of n’goni player as intermediary between human and spirit worlds, he opens and attunes to the internal journey of the listener, weaving a soundscape of opportunities and improbable possibilities.

Daniel Lucas works through design and education to nurture the life of the mind and spirit, creating tools, forms, and gatherings that foster creativity, connection, and reflection across generations. His practice is part of an ongoing effort to renew education as a shared, creative practice.

Noah Solt is a sailor, storyteller, and musician.
