Join us for an evening of movement and storytelling with dancer, digital artist, and Problem Library MC Tamara Chu. Part spoken journey, part moving meditation, this evening follows Tamara’s explorations of presence, performance, and the “art of the whole truth.”
Through her years of dance, digital storytelling, and now public speaking, Tamara often returns to the question of presence—an intangible quality of artistic and athletic performance that can animate a space, focus a crowd, and shift what’s possible between people. How do we cultivate presence and offer it to others? How do we feel it return to us? What conditions are necessary to experience ourselves, each other, and the world as a whole?
Tamara will share reflections from past creative projects—including her cinematic web novella Sabrina x Nine—alongside insights from her current return to studying martial arts with her father, a practice she resisted as a child but now encounters as living philosophy. Her stories invite us to consider how lessons flow across generations, how metaphors—both personal and inherited—encode wisdom, and how movement can become a way of remembering.
What is possible when we tap into the spiraling nature of lifelong inquiry? What kind of presence is passed from one body to another? Even more curiously: What is it like to live two lives at once, one of them moving backward toward your past?
The evening will end as it begins: in movement, together.
